The more weddings I photograph, the less “firsts” I have, but this wedding at Lake Valhalla Club, I had a brand new “first”!! This wedding was the first time I’ve ever had a couple get in a little ROW BOAT. Yes, you read that right… in their wedding attire, between their ceremony and reception, Pete and Pam got in a row boat on the lake for some portraits! I might be a little biased, but it was DEFINITELY worth it!
How they Met and the Proposal
Pete and Pam met when a mutual friend arranged for them to meat at a party. Before Pete got there, Pam started talking to someone else, thinking she was chatting with Pete! Once she actually knew who Pete was, they had a great time getting to know each other. After dating for a while Pete started planning the perfect proposal. One Saturday afternoon Pete asked Pam if she wanted to go for a hike. He had already left her a note on her hiking backpack and in it was a puzzle piece. The puzzle piece lead them to another location in Morristown and subsequently around New Jersey – the perfect scavenger hunt! Each location had special meaning to them including their favorite Thai food place, their first apartment, tennis courts where they’d play… and the last puzzle piece finally lead them on their hike! They hiked to the top of the mountain and when Pam put the entire puzzle together, she could finally read “Will you marry me?” Pete got down on one knee and Pam said yes!
Definitely check out their engagement session in downtown Morristown NJ!
Their Lake Valhalla Club Wedding
MAN, do I love fall! I love fall colors, I love fall weather and obviously, I love fall weddings! Pam chose a sangria color for her bridesmaids to wear and for her flowers, which were just stunning. Everything meshed so well together. Pete had a custom suit with their wedding date embroidered on the inside. From the big welcome I got from Pam’s mom when I arrived at their house, to the love I felt emanating from every guest, this wedding day was one for the record books! My favorite part was a definite tie between the moment Pete and Pam venture into the boat for the perfect Little Mermaid, “Kiss the Girl” moment and watching Pam’s mom as she saw her baby dancing with her father during the reception.
