Last Friday I travelled up to Morristown, New Jersey to meet Pam and Pete! Pam currently lives in South Carolina while she prepares to finish her degree, so I’d say she ventured a bit further than me :P They are both from Morristown, NJ and since it holds such significance in their relationship we knew it would be the perfect place for their engagement.
How They Met
Pam and Pete met through a mutual friend. Pam worked with the girlfriend of one of Pete’s roommates, so naturally she was introduced to Pete at a party… except at first she didn’t get a formal introduction and totally thought Pete was someone else. Once she actually knew who Pete was, they had a great time chatting and getting to know each other. Soon thereafter they went on their first date on halloween. Pam was secretly scared that Pete would show up in a costume for their first date! Pete was equally scared that he wouldn’t be able to hand out candy to trick-or-treaters and debated cancelling! Everything ended up perfectly though when Pete met Pam after work and they went out to a restaurant in Morristown. (I’d say it went pretty well :P)
The Proposal
Pete had been planning the proposal for some time, and had successfully kept it a secret from Pam! On a Saturday afternoon he asked if she wanted to go for a hike. He had already left her a note on her hiking backpack and in it was a puzzle piece! The puzzle piece lead them to another location in Morristown and subsequently around New Jersey – the perfect scavenger hunt. Each location had special meaning to them including their favorite Thai food place, their first apartment, tennis courts where they’d play and the last puzzle piece finally lead them on their hike! They hiked to the top of the mountain and when Pam put the entire puzzle together, could finally read “Will you marry me?” Pete got down on one knee and Pam said yes!
Their Morristown New Jersey Engagement
I arrived to Morristown a bit before I was supposed to meet up with Pam and Pete to walk around and find the best locations! Downtown Morristown has a great green space and lovely streets lined with so many great restaurants and shops! There are some gorgeous churches and we even found the cutest little hidden brick archway. It was so fun getting to walk around Morristown and hear about where they had their first date and see the different spots where they spent time together while dating!
