We had our first COVID wedding in July and although their big celebration is going to be in March, this was the best way to kick of our 2020 wedding season (or what is left of it! :P). This year has been quite the year for everyone and it was so nice to have a little slice of what a normal summer looks like for me!
How They Met and the Proposal
Samantha and Jason met through a mutual friend who set them up. Jason took her on their first date on Valentine’s Day… not realizing it was Valentine’s Day!! After totally flubbing up their first date, Samantha somehow still liked him. He proposed by having their pup wear a tag asking her to marry him!
Their Private Micro Wedding
Can you believe this wedding was in the brides’ family’s backyard?! Samantha thought of so many adorable details and I am so glad I could photograph it, if only for a few hours. By far, my favorite part was their custom face masks that they supplied for their guests. They had a sweet, very distanced ceremony setup with just two chairs next to each other and then the next set of chairs were spaced further away allowing for couples to sit together. They had the Pitruco food truck with the BEST pizza and their closest family and friends there to celebrate. Samantha was ecstatic that the day had come and that they were getting MARRIED! I can’t imagine how it must feel to have planned the perfect day only for that to be derailed by a worldwide pandemic. Then when our original day comes and you still find a way to get married, oh the relief!
I am SO thankful for couples like Samantha and Jason who realize the the true reason for a wedding. It doesn’t always have to be about the party, sometimes its about the marriage and the PARTY will follow :)
