Let me start by saying that love stories like this are what I live for, also people like this! I’ve know Allison since high school and it was SO good to see her, meet Josh and capture a small piece of their love at Deer Run Farm! They run and own this farm with Josh’s family and man is it gorgeous :) Allison is at the farm full time running their poultry operation and assisting in the sale of their meat. ANYWAY, on to their love story!!
How They Met
Allison went to school for graphic design and was working when Josh wandered in needing large format copies for his job down the road. Nearly every day he wandered back until it was pretty much a daily occurance. Allison caught on because who really NEEDS prints everyday? They went on their first date to a movie that neither of them remembers but they do remember the late French toast meal at the Lincoln Diner that followed and made up for a poor movie choice!
The Proposal
They ventured to Raystown Lake for their first camping trip together. They wanted to make sure to do all of the typical camping trip activities like hiking and kayaking. There was a “1,000 Steps” hike up the mountain that they weren’t sure they could handle. It is a high comprised of large boudlers cut out of the side of a mountain that are super slippery. That first camping trip they conquered the 1,000 Steps! When Josh was ready to propose he took Allison on a scavenger hunt. It started at Deer Run Farm where he would ask her questions until she could guess the answer of their destination. Eventually the guesses led back to the 1,000 Steps. They hiked it once more and at the top Josh as Allison to marry him!
Their Deer Run Farm Engagement
I remember speaking to Allison about weather for their engagement session in the event it rained and she responded with… We’re farmers, we do everything rain or shine so a little rain doesn’t scare us. Although it didn’t rain DURING their session on the farm, it did rain right before and right after! Couples like this, that are willing to hang out in the rain or shine, in some beautiful fields with some cow poop and even cows are the couples that I love most. I’m pretty sure we could have caught up all night on different things! Allison makes Josh laugh at the simplest face, the silliest joke and he brings out a smile in her that is everything I love to see. They embraced the awkwardness of having their pictures taken, and being in the field with the cows made them feel right at home :P This engagement session at Deer Run Farm was so fun and I loved getting to capture the beauty of what they get to see every day.
