Just before the new year, we had friends and family come from all over to celebrate with us as we prepare to welcome this little one into the world! MAN did we feel the love! Not only was the baby shower between Christmas and New Years, but it was in Gettysburg at my parent’s house AND it snowed that morning! Snow isn’t usually a problem, but when they were calling for an inch, and in reality when 4-5 inches actually fall, it changes the equation :P. Not to mention, this is my parent’s first winter in their dream house, with a quarter mile driveway WITH hills. Let’s just say, it was an adventure! :)
My best friend, Natalie, worked with my mom and mother-in-law to create the perfect travel themed baby shower for us! Mind, Natalie lives in South Carolina so this was no easy task! Up until the week of the shower, I didn’t know anything other than the date. When they told me that the theme was “Next Stop Parenthood” I absolutely loved it! Since we’re theming our nursery as an adventure/dream theme, I absolutely loved that the shower was travel themed! Our biggest hopes and dreams for this little one is that they dream BIG.
Our Next Stop Parenthood, Travel Themed Baby Shower
One of the biggest challenges was to keep the decorations gender neutral! Since we’ve decided to keep the gender a surprise, it complicated quite a few things, but has kept everything so exciting! I love hearing the guesses for what this little one might be. So far the guesses are pretty dang even!
Natalie gathered bottles, globes and old suitcases to make this vision come to life! The week of the shower, we decided to make the pom pom garlands, and Benjamin folded all of the paper airplanes! My mother-in-law die cut the cutest clouds AND cars for the cupcakes. My sister in law made desserts from around the world including macaroons, cupcakes, mousse cups, AND sugar cookies. Not to mention, both of my sister-in-laws HAND decorated the sugar cookies. At the last minute my parents surprised us with not JUST getting chicken poppers, but Chick-fil-A chicken bits. Talk about a pregnant woman’s DREAM! Natalie decided on a make your own trail mix bar to “Fuel Your Future Adventures” :)
We can’t thank our friends and family enough for all of the hard work they put in to making this shower the perfect reality AND for our friends and family that braved the weather to come celebrate with us! We are so very excited to welcome this little one into the world and love that our baby is already SO spoiled :)
