Last week I had the pleasure of hanging out with Kate an Han for a few hours while they had an intimate and quiet elopement in Love Park. Although downtown Philadelphia is always moving and there is a lot going on, for a few moments it all seemed to quiet down while Kate and Han said “I do!” to their forever :)
How they met
Kate and Han met in college where they attended the same school in China. The two of them, with a number of other students, came to the United States to earn Masters degrees. Although they studied at the same University, they didn’t start getting to know each other until they graduated. Kate helped Han with his visa application and after that they really started talking. They would talk on the phone for hours and became best friends before starting to date 3 months later.
The Proposal
On their 1000th day anniversary of dating, it was a normal Sunday morning at home filled with making breakfast and doing laundry. When Kate came back to the kitchen after breakfast, Han had prepared an extra “snack” for her, but when he removed the covering, a little Tiffany Ring Box was there! Both excited and mortified because she was wearing her sweats, Kate said YES!
Their Love Park Elopement
There have only been a few spring-like days so far this season, most have still felt like winter. However, last Friday was one that was a beautiful cool spring day! I met up with Kate, Han and their minister from Journeys of the Heart at Love Park in Center City Philadelphia. They had a quiet and intimate ceremony under the Love Park Statue and then we wandered around City Hall for some classic and timeless portraits to document their marriage!
