Last week we met up with Katie and Ryan at Rose Tree Park on the most beautiful fall evening!! The leaves were just starting to change, the air was brisk and the skies cleared to let the sun shine through!!

How They Met

Katie and Ryan’s story started a few years ago… in 8th grade to be exact! It didn’t exactly start as a love story either :P Ryan had a habit of correcting the teacher until one day Katie had enough and slammed her fists on the desk and shouted “CAN’T YOU JUST LEAVE IT ALONE?!” and they ended up being best friends ever since. Their first date was in Rose Tree Park almost SEVEN years ago where they just walked and talked. :)

The Proposal

The setting was last December in Rose Tree Park during the Festival of Lights (can you say romantic?!). Throughout their relationship, Ryan saved little mementos from their trips, vacations, concerts, really anything they’ve done together. With each of those mementos, he made a scrapbook that told their love story and on the final page he made the text SUPER tiny so Katie would have to raise the book to her face (giving Ryan time to get on one knee!). He had it all planned out. He would take her to a gazebo not too far from the light display and would propose to her there… that is until they got there and immediately were swarmed by a group of kids. Ryan quickly became panicked because he didn’t have a second place in mind to take her!! As he looked around he saw a bench and led her there where she read through the book, they reminisced and when she got to the last page, he got down on one knee. Not more than a second after he opened the ring box, was Katie screaming “YES! YES! YES!”

Their Rose Tree Park Engagement

With the significance this park played throughout their entire relationship, Rose Tree Park was the obvious (and perfect!) choice for their engagement session! When they asked if I allow dogs for sessions, I replied, the answer is always YES! So many of our couples have fur babies and I LOVE meeting each and every one :) When they showed up with the most adorable 5 month old black lab, I melted… Like actually melted. She is actually the most adorable pup!! Katie and Ryan get married in less than a month and I can tell that it is going to be a good one. I think we may have ended up laughing more than talking at their engagement as we wandered around Rose Tree Park!
