Last week I got to hang out with Holly and Ben in Gettysburg for the earliest session yet this year! We decided on a sunrise engagement session because these two are from Florida and were only visiting for a short time! I love that we were able to squeeze in their engagement session and even though it was a bit chilly, I had such a great time with these two walking around Gettysburg College and chatting about their wedding next year :)
How They Met
Holly and Ben met at Gettysburg college almost 10 years ago! This sweet love story started in their freshman dorm where Holly developed a huge crush on him, which was super obvious :P After becoming close friends, their first date didn’t even seem like a date. They went to see a movie together, had dinner and just sat and talked for hours before the movie and decided that being more than just friends was definitely in their future!
The Proposal
After college these two moved to Florida, and on a visit home they decided to go to the National Zoo in D.C. Holly is a huge animal lover and had never seen pandas in real life so a visit to the zoo was totally fitting! Ben had actually arranged for a family friend to greet them at the welcome center with a stuffed panda and to personally take them around the zoo. On one of the hottest days, after an exhausting trek across the zoo, they ended up at the sea lion exhibit. Ben surprised not only Holly, but their guide and their friend who was with them when he got down on one knee and asked him to marry her!!
Their Gettysburg College Engagement
After realizing that our schedules aligned for Holly & Ben’s trip back to PA to not only visit their venue, but to also do their engagement session, I was so excited! Not only were Holly and Ben seeing their wedding venue for the first time (they booked it without even seeing it!), but I was going to get to document their love in a place that had so much meaning to their relationship. We wandered at sunrise around Gettysburg’s campus and had to stop by the dorm where it all started to get a few photos :) Both of Holly’s outfits were on point and even though it was SO cold out, she embraced it like a champ! (We may have bundled her up in a blanket as we walked :P) I am so excited to celebrate with these two next year!!
