Our Fourth Anniversary Portraits

Each year I convince myself to get in front of the camera, and this past year I was actually excited! If you’ve been following us, you probably know that we’re about a month away from welcoming our little one into the world. When we found out we were pregnant we knew we had to document our last anniversary as just the two of us (as well as take a few photos to announce that we were pregnant!). I might be a little late in posting this since our anniversary was last August… but better late than never right?!

A huge thank you goes out to Adrienne of Adrienne Matz Photography for capturing our goofiness and creating some beautiful moments for us to cherish!

After four years of marriage, ten years together, and preparing to welcome this little one into the world, I realize how lucky I am to have found the perfect love at such a young age. In honor of our 4 married years together I wrote up 4 fun things about us!

  1. Benjamin is a scientist and I’m (obviously) a photographer, but we both have our nerdy sides for sure! We included our love for both the sciences and the arts in our wedding. Our invites included our own “element” and our centerpieces were a mix of antique cameras and old wooden test tube racks. :)
  2. We love crafting and making handmade things. This little one has given us the best excuse to make #allthethings :) Benjamin has embraced all of my crazy, crazy ideas and has been making so many things for the nursery! He’s made an adorable plane shelf and a 4ft mountain shelf for our adventure/dream themed nursery and I’m working on a fluffy “cloud” rug!
  3. Now that we’re nearing the end of the pregnancy, and the whole mobility thing is a little harder and takes a little longer for me to move around, Benjamin has been amazing. It is so crazy how quickly our roles have had to change (even without this little one here!) and I am just amazed how how supportive and understanding Benjamin has been. I’m not one to ask for help, and that’s definitely been a lesson I’ve needed to learn the past 8 months – to actually ask for help!
  4. My best pregnancy craving has been the Ben and Jerry’s Milk and Cookies flavor. If you haven’t tried it you need to drop everything and go try it NOW. I’ve probably had way too much of it in the last month, but its been so worth it :P

The one piece of advice I could give to all of our couples about marriage is to cherish every moment and communicate! Make sure you’re open with each other about how you’re feeling and if you’re feeling fulfilled. Its a hard conversation to have sometimes, but it is one that ultimately reinforces the strength of your relationship. :) If you want to make sure you’re loving your spouse (or soon-to-be spouse) in the way the best receive love, I can’t recommend reading the Five Love Languages enough!!
