I am so excited to share this love story with you today! Kathleen and Kenan’s engagement session was a little overcast, but because they chose a perfect location, you would never notice! We started at a very specific bridge at Pennypack Trust in where Kenan first asked Kathleen to be his girlfriend! I am so happy that we could revisit such a significant place to them.
How They Met
Kathleen and Kenan first met when his church youth group visited her’s. They were young and wide-eyed, just starting high school! The entire trip, neither of them said a word to each other because they were both so horrendously shy. But, this is where their love story began :) Their love story continued at Peddler’s Village where they went on their first date a few years later.
The Proposal
These two wrote such a sweet story on their proposal, and I couldn’t even begin to retell the story. From Kenan, “I had known for a while (like a really long time) that I wanted to propose to Kathleen at her mother’s side of the family’s cabin. It’s her favorite place in the world. The cabin (in Wisconsin) is set far back in the woods and is 20 yards away from the family’s private lake.” (This is just too romantic!) “I couldn’t wait long before asking her. We went on a walk around the lake during sunset. The sun was reflecting off the water in thousands of glistening pinpoints of light.”
(Now in Kathleen’s words!) “We walked along a path towards a spot on the lake I (Kathleen) absolutely love which we call Blueberry Island despite the fact that it is definitely not an island. As we got closer to the end of the lake along the path we realized the sun was going to disappear behind the trees, so we began to backtrack just a bit. We finally settled in a spot where we could fully appreciate the lake from our spot in the woods and Kenan put his arms around my neck. I was completely happy to stand there silently staring back and forth between my handsome man and the dazzling lake. But then he began to talk. As I listened I tried my best to concentrate on his words, not the fact that I thought I could feel his arms begin to shake ever so slightly and tried to tell myself NOT to get excited! And then it happened. :D One knee. Ring. My finger. Words. Ring. Ring on my finger. “Will you marry me?” Yes!”
Now that I officially am tearing up… Can I just say how excited I am for their wedding next year?!
Their Pennypack Trust Engagement
After reading about their proposal story, I couldn’t wait to meet these two! I mean, that’s really what I’m able to do, tell love stories and document their happily ever afters… and let me tell you… I LOVE it :) We met at Pennypack Trust in Bryn Athyn, where Kenan originally asked Kathleen to be his girlfriend! They stood at this very bridge and started their love story. We found the perfect field of yellow to match the wedding colors that Kathleen has chosen and hiked to the top of the mountain, okay maybe it was a hill, but it felt like a mountain, to find yet another stunning field!
