I can’t believe that Angela and Josh’s engagement session was my first trip to Hershey Gardens! Growing up in Gettysburg with my grandmother living 20 minutes away from Hershey, we frequented Hershey Park (and of course the spa!), but never made it to Hershey gardens! When Angela and Josh suggested having their engagement at Hershey Gardens, and proceeded to explain the significance of the location, there was really no other option BUT to do their engagement session there ON the anniversary of their proposal!! Not only did they go on a few dates at the gardens, but Josh also proposed on a bench in Hershey Gardens :)
how they met
Angela and Josh met at a mutual friend’s surprise birthday party back in 2009! From the first handshake of their introduction Angela knew something great was about to happen. Her friend’s grandmother (also an attendee at the birthday party!) took a bit of notice of both Angela and Josh stealing glances at each other and even started to play matchmaker!
the proposal
After these two had been dating and knew that each other was “the one,” Josh made a promise to Angela. He promised to propose to her before her 30th birthday. Well, the day before her 30th birthday, he remembered this promise and planned the best day for her. He arranged a spa day for her at Hotel Hershey and when he arrived to pick her up, (for what Angela thought was a birthday dinner) he suggested that they take a stroll through the Hershey Gardens. There, they continued their tradition of sitting on park benches and reminded her of the promise he made a few years prior. Angela knew in that moment what was about to happen and Josh ended up on one knee with a gorgeous rose gold ring!
hershey gardens engagement
The weather this past Sunday was absolutely gorgeous (and BRIGHT!), which definitely made for the perfect spring engagement. Angela and Josh arrived with beaming smiles and overflowing excitement and it was a pleasure documenting their love! We wandered around the gardens, finding the most beautiful trees and even stopped for a few photos at the very bench Josh proposed at!
