Where do I begin with these two? On Saturday I met up with Ally and Derek for a Philadelphia Winter Engagement session! I was secretly hoping for there to still be snow on the ground, but it all melted! Fun fact! Ally and Derek are actually from where I grew up! (shoutout to Central PA!) These two are such a great couple. They are so easy to talk to and their love truly radiates!
The Proposal
Ally grew up watching and loving The Lion King so at the end of last year, Derek told her he was going to take her to see The Lion King on Broadway!! After spending the day with one of Ally’s friends the two of them ended up on a stroll in Central Park to see the Bow Bridge before the show. As Ally was taking in the view, she turned around to find Derek on one knee. He said “I love you, I want to spend the rest of my days with you. Will you marry me?” She could hardly utter the word yes and before she knew it, 13 of their very best friends emerged from underneath the bridge, popped champagne and celebrated as Ally’s tears of joy flowed!!
The Engagement
Ally and Derek were the winners of our New Years Giveaway for a Philadelphia Winter Engagement session WITH styling advice by Little White Dress! Its not every day that we do giveaways, but we really wanted to give a special couple access to engagement photos as well as the styling experience, that may not have the opportunity! Lauren, from Little White Dress joined us to assist and I think from the first “hello” we were all comfortable! Ally and Derek are so upbeat and easy to talk to and we loved hearing about their wedding plans and just getting to know the two of them :)
We started near Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens and then headed on a little walk towards Old City. After finding out Ally loves coffee we knew we had to stop by a coffee shop and stumbled upon the cutest coffee shop! Lombard Cafe had the cutest sitting area! We ended up at Washington Square Park to finish off the evening and MAN did it get chilly quick!
I am so glad I had the opportunity to meet these two for their Philadelphia Winter Engagement. It was an honor to capture their love and I can’t wait to see where life takes them!
