Our Adventure Dream Nursery

This past month has been a whirlwind with our little girl coming a week early, to the transition of being PARENTS! I think it took me at least three weeks to get remotely used to people calling me Mama, and it not feeling weird :P I can’t wait to share photos of Lyla’s first month, but today I’m sharing all about her nursery!

From the moment we decided that we were going to add a little one to our family, I started dreaming of the nursery and what we could make. We knew we didn’t want to find out the gender so we knew we’d be staying neutral. We thought about our interests and all of the hopes and dreams we’d have for this little one and the vision fell into place :)

Our Adventure Dream Nursery

We want our little Lyla to dream big and know that the world is a big place to be discovered. Exploration, questions and discoveries of this big beautiful world are not only welcomed, but encouraged. Cue the adventure theme :P We hope that she has a big imagination and truly hope she is curious about, well.. everything! Cue the dream theme :)

We are big fans of crafting and creating, so naturally we knew we just had to add personal elements to the nursery. From the first moment I started dreaming of this nursery, I wanted this massive mountain shelf. Luckily I have an awesome husband who loves to build things and was just as excited to build this mountain shelf! Not only did he make my dream a reality, but he also built an amazing plane shelf to go with our travel map :) We even are adding little map pins of where we’ve been and where we’ve taken Lyla.

Since I’m no woodworker I wanted to add a few things myself so I decided to make the pillows for the chairs and the mobile! Being pregnant, there were only so many positions I could sit in for an extended amount of time to craft, so the pillowcases were the perfect craft! I’m sure I’ll post a how-to blog soon :) The mobile has a much better story :P After our baby shower, we had leftover garlands and I fully intended to reuse those for our mobile, but as I started stringing them up, I absolutely hated the mobile! It took me an entire month to brainstorm and finally decide on what I wanted to do for it, but the day before we went into labor I not only decided, but made it! :) (Of course with a lot of Benjamin’s help) Benjamin cut all of the wood pieces in shapes of clouds, stars, and raindrops and then I painted each of them before stringing them to an embroidery hoop. Lets just say it is definitely one of my favorite parts of the nursery! (I’ll also have to post a how-to blog on that!)
