Handmade Advent Calendar

We started this handmade advent calendar project last year, and I don’t think we quite realized what we were getting ourselves into… It is a year in the making, and will most likely take another year to complete! Between all of our other crafts last year, we found an awesome advent calendar at Michaels that we decided we would make our own. I love anything to do with crafting, and Benjamin loves woodworking so we came up with a plan to customize an advent calendar that we’ll use for years to come!

Last year Benjamin carved about 20 of the 25 ornaments, but I only got to painting around 8 before Christmas had come and gone. This year I’ve painted 4 more, but we also decided that some of the ornaments from last year could use a little finessing. So tomorrow… we’re out of ornaments for this year! However, the ones we do have are so adorable (at least I think so!).

We have more in progress that include an ice skate, a bell, a candle, a christmas tree light, a star, a reindeer, a cross, and a rocking horse. We’re planning on also including a mitten, a candy cane, a snowflake, a poinsettia, a wreath, but that still doesn’t take us to 25! We would love, love, LOVE some suggestions! Feel free to leave a comment if you think of any cool ideas!
