It all starts with a little love story… and crafts! Everyone has their own New Years Tradition and it is generally spent with loved ones while welcoming the opportunity that awaits in the year to come! Well, that’s not exactly our New Years tradition. Every New Years Eve since our 1 year dating anniversary, my husband, Benjamin, and I do a New Years craft! We ring in the new year by creating something new together. Now don’t get the wrong idea! We still make it out to see some friends certain years, but sometime on the last day of the year, we commit to spending a few good hours getting messy and creating something beautiful.
Benjamin and I started dating between Christmas and New Years, so our very first New Years Eve together we went and saw the fireworks and FROZE OUR BUTTS OFF! So the following year we decided to stay in… and then our mutual love for crafting was born!
This year we decided on a rather strange craft project and reupholstered our ottoman!! Talk about a New Year’s craft… :P Usually we break out a canvas and do some semblance of painting, but in recent years we’ve been up-cycling furniture!
Let’s talk about how sad this ottoman was looking. It was one of those super cheap ones you get for college and then it just sticks with you and you never know what to do with it! Instead of it remaining an eyesore in all of it’s brown corduroy glory, we found a great fabric at Joann’s and updated it with a modern flare!
I’m thinking one year soon we’re going to have to host a whole New Years Eve Crafting PARTY! Who’s coming?!
