This isn’t my normal type of session, but oh I had fun capturing some portraits of Caitlin and Jake and documenting her gorgeous Charleston Garden themed bridal shower in Wayne! Get ready for some big hats, sunglasses, southern hospitality and most importantly Lily Pulitzer! You’re in for one great love story here!

How they met

Caitlin and Jake met on a blind date set up by one of Jake’s friends. Their first date quickly turned from drinks into dinner at the Stone Rose in Conshohocken. They talked for hours and before they even left from their first date, they had another one planned! The connection was entirely evident to both of them from the beginning. Not a day has passed since their first date that they haven’t spoken or seen each other. :)

The Proposal

Last August Caitlin was under the impression Jake had planned a special date night to celebrate her birthday. She was looking forward to one of Jake’s heartfelt and thoughtfully written cards that he always writes for special occasions. She was a little thrown back when (to her insistence) she opened her presents and birthday card before dinner and there was no sentimental card. (She thought they were going out for drinks with friends after dinner.) During dinner everything seemed absolutely normal, their conversation was great and Jake was relaxed. They stopped by the apartment before meeting friends so Jake could grab a hat. When they walked into his apartment after dinner and none of his roommates were there, Caitlin was surprised. When Jake turned on the lights, she noticed a beautifully wrapped present on the counter. He claimed it was a housewarming gift, but when she opened it she found two exquisite champagne flutes, of which he promptly filled :) He finally presented her with a card with the most heartfelt words and as Caitlin read it tears welled up and she realized that something much more significant than her birthday was happening. When she finished she looked over to find Jake on one knee as he popped the question! They called their family and closest friends to tell them the news before heading out for (what Caitlin still thought was) drinks with friends. When they walked into the Ritz lobby she was surprised to find their parents (and that they already knew the whole plan!).

When Caitlin contacted me about shooting some portraits of her and Jake, let alone what seemed to be her awesome Charleston Garden Party themed bridal shower, I was thrilled! She mentioned that Trousseau Style was styling their outfits and it was a must to get some photos together. :) Before guests arrived, we snapped a few shots of the two of them together, and I must say that hat was the perfect touch!! These two were so fun and relaxed. They meshed so well together and Trousseau Style did such a great job styling these outfits!
